Nanae Fresh-Water Station was established as one of the field stations
named Nanae Fish-Culture Experimental Station, belonging Faculty of Fisheries,
Hokkaido University at 1959. This station assumes an obligation to
an educational function as Aquaculture Facility for the Faculty of Fisheries,
Hokkaido University. The duty of this station is determined in a
departmental order of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology. Therefore, this Station supports firstly the education
and research conducted Faculty of Fisheries, Hokkaido University.
In addition, this Station support educations and researches conducted by
other Faculties of Hokkaido University, Research Institute. This
Station has also provided with fish and eggs to several aquariums in Japan
for their educational presentation, while with educational lectures and
experiments to students of elementary to high school students.
Original research programs, described below, are performed in this station.
